ROLE of the POSITION

Our research team is seeking for a highly motivated and capable postdoctoral scholar interested in implementation science in Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition-related research. The successful candidate will work on an NIH- funded implementation science project that uses a community-based participatory approach to promote the maternal-child component of an existing comprehensive social intervention addressing social determinants of health to mitigate structural racism amid COVID-19. This project is designed to inform how best multi-sectoral interventions (maternal-child health and food insecurity interventions) can be integrated to promote transformation on the maternal-child health and nutrition of historically marginalized communities in the Southwest US.

The successful candidate will develop and extend skills in implementation science in Maternal and Child Health, including mixed-methods and interdisciplinary community-based participatory research. S/he will work directly mentorship of the PI to conduct research activities that may include developing analytical frameworks, developing protocols, conducting mix-methods data collection, monitoring data quality, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data. The postdoctoral scholar will have opportunities to collaborate on manuscripts and grant proposal development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Ph.D./doctoral degree in public health, maternal and child health, nutrition, social and behavioral health, epidemiology, or related fields from a regionally accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting mixed-methods implementation science and/or food insecurity and/or maternal and child health research particularly in low-income and racial/ethnic marginalized communities. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent interpersonal and oral, and written communication skills;

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with collaborators, stakeholders, and research staff.

Knowledge of implementation science study design, sampling approaches, and mixed methods approaches (including advanced statistical and qualitative data methods) and qualitative data collection (e.g., in-depth interviews, focus groups, Delphi methods).

Knowledge of STATA, R, or other statistical software;

Knowledge of Dedoose, N-vivo, or other qualitative analysis software;

Experience with scoping and systematic literature reviews;

Research experience in maternal and child health, particularly in low- income and racial/ethnic marginalized communities in the US is an asset.

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
