Position Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the oral cancer research lab of Keith Kirkwood, located at the University at Buffalo and in collaboration with the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. The Kirkwood Lab applies an interdisciplinary approach that integrates use of bioinformatics, novel drug delivery systems in humanized mouse models to study oral cancer tumorigenesis. The position will focus on the manipulating a phosphatase in the myeloid-compartment within tumor microenvironment on the tumor immune dynamics and novel neoadjuvant therapies (Li, et al, Oral Oncology, 2020) paper and recent manuscript currently under review. We are looking for eager, self-directed scientists with excellent writing skills. Our laboratory is currently funded by grants awarded from the Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree in biomedical science with published experience in any of these fields:

· Immunology

· molecular biology

· cell biology

· Flow cytometry

· transgenic animal work and animal husbandry/colony management

Preferred Qualifications

Recent graduates will receive substantially more favorable consideration than applicants who have completed 3-4 years of postdoc training

· Experience with immunohistochemistry, imaging including micro-computed tomography, and confocal microscopy

· Experience with NanoString and RNAseq technologies preferred

· Experience with magnetic cell sorting preferred

· Small animal surgery experience preferred

· Experience with in vivo imaging systems (IVIS) preferred

Physical Demands Salary Range $52,000 Work Hours

37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M- 5:00 P.M
