The postdoctoral work will be part of SENSAAS (SENSors and Analyses for AquiferS) transdisciplinary research consortium 2021-2024. This large collaborative project at the regional level involves several partner laboratories and propose to develop innovative sensors and to strengthen the analytical capacities of UBFC platforms for micropollutants analysis (microplastics, organic matter, antibiotics, biocides and trace metals) in groundwater.

The recruited Postdoc will be in charge of developing analytical methodologies for the characterization of natural organic matter and of microplastics in soil and water by Pyrolysis GC/MS, isotopic analysis, NMR relaxometry, LC-MS- MS….

This work will be conducted at the Biogeosciences laboratory (GISMO platform) and in collaboration with the PCAV group (Physico-chemistry of Food and Wine) of the PAM unit research (Food and Wine Science & Technology). An international collaboration with the ICA-CSIC unit in Madrid, Spain, could also be possible for molecular analysis.

The postdoc will be supervised by Olivier MATHIEU, Mathieu THEVENOT and Philippe AMIOTTE SUCHET in the Biogeosciences laboratory (SEDS group) at university of Burgundy Dijon, which is a multi-disciplinary unit research on present and past environmental systems and climate.

The Biogeosciences Research Unit disposes of the GISMO technical geochemical platform (Geochemistry and ISotopicMethOds) devoted to their research topics.

The research activities of the GISMO platform are focused in particular on the study of organic matter dynamics in the environment: transfers from plant to soil/sediments/solution and evolution in a changing environment (natural and anthropogenic changes). These research activities are based on the characterisation of the organic matter pools and of the transformation processes using specific molecular and isotopic markers.

The main tools involve soil and gas analysis, physical and chemical fractioning of the soil constituents, elementary analysis of carbon, nitrogen, sulphur and isotope analysis with 13C, 15N and 34S (including labeling technique), concentration and characterization of the dissolved phases (organic carbon, major cations and anions), flux measurements and isotopic enrichment of the gaseous phases (labelled forms of nitrogen and carbon). This technical platform and the included resources is fully operational for research projects.

Offer Requirements Skills/Qualifications

- PhD in environmental chemistry / analytical chemistry or related field

- practical experience in the chemical characterization of natural organic matter and/or microplastics in soil / sediment or water

- ability to conduct independent and organised work in an analytical research laboratory

- knowledge in the field of soil / water organic matter as well as molecular fingerprinting techniques will be appreciated
