An exciting opportunity exists for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work in the Department of Engineering as part of the £3M EPSRC HOME-Offshore project. This highly collaborative project, led by the University of Manchester in collaboration with Durham, Warwick, Cranfield and Heriot-Watt Universities, is supported by a number of industrial partners including Siemens Wind Power, Scottish Power Energy Networks, DNV GL and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.

The HOME-Offshore project is undertaking research to support the remote inspection and asset management of large offshore wind farms and their connection to shore. This project will use the latest in state of the art reliability modelling to achieve a step-change in actionable data for wind farm operators and manufacturers, so reducing costs for the electricity bill and tax payer.

The successful candidate will join the Durham research team to conduct research into reliability modelling of the complex turbine and infrastructure systems found within large offshore wind farms with the aim of using mixed-resolution reliability data to simulate whole wind farm reliability and inform maintenance planning.
