The focus of the Reuther lab is to identify and therapeutically exploit key signaling mechanisms in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), a group of neoplastic hematopoietic stem cell disorders that are driven by aberrant activation of the JAK2 tyrosine kinase.

Position Highlights:
• The post-doctoral researcher will both independently and collaboratively design and perform experiments within the lab and with other research groups.
• The focus of research projects will include identifying novel cellular targets for therapeutic inhibition of MPNs, assessing novel small molecule inhibitors for their efficacy in various MPNmodel systems, including in the setting of JAK2 inhibitor drug resistance, and assessing the mechanisms of action of these small molecule drugs.
• A variety of techniques and approaches will be employed including cellular and molecular biology (cell culture, qPCR, RNA interference, CRISPR/Cas9, immunoblotting, etc), proteomics, flow cytometry, and animal models, among others.

The Ideal Candidate is:
• self-driven and creative
• independent as well as collaborative
• well-versed in molecular biology and cell culture
• experienced using animal models of cancer
• experienced with flow cytometry
• able to proactively research and implement alternative experimental approaches and techniques
• quick to learn new concepts and techniques
• efficient in time management and communication
• one with excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities will include:
• independently and collaboratively designing and performing experiments necessary for driving the research project
• assisting and teaching other lab personnel when necessary
• efficient communication and documentation of data
• presenting research projects at lab meetings and departmental research in progress seminars
• writing abstracts and manuscripts in collaboration with the PI Credentials and Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in a biological scientific field, ideally with cancer research experience.
