Postdoctoral Position in Mammalian Stem Cell Biology : New York, NY, United States

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Tung-Tien Sun, PhD, in the Department of Cell Biology, New York University School of Medicine, to study the stem cells of bladder urothelium, a stratified epithelium that forms a remarkable permeability barrier. Ongoing studies include the localization of these stem cells and identification of their markers; determination of their roles in bladder tumorigenesis; and studies on their differentiation to undergo membrane specialization (uroplakin trafficking and assembly). Dr. Sun’s lab has contributed to the establishment of keratins as epithelial markers, uroplakins as urothelial markers, and the discoveries of corneal, hair follicular and prostatic epithelial stem cells and he teaches a course on Scientific Methods. We are looking for a creative and driven individual with strong publication record and advanced expertise in molecular and cell biology. Experience in stem cell biology and transgenic mouse techniques as well as excellent communication skills in oral and written English are highly desired.
