A postdoctoral research position at Hannover Medical School (HMS), Department of Pediatric Cardiology and Critical Care, is available to study the molecular mechanisms of pulmonary vascular disease and right heart failure, and related translational therapeutic interventions, including pharmacological, miR/anti-miR, synthetic modified RNA and cellular approaches (iPS cells, mesenchymal stem cells and progenitor cells).

Requirements: Candidates should be highly motivated and focused, must hold a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree in cell/molecular biology or related field, have at least one first author original research publication, the ability to hold deadlines, the willingness to teach students and technicians, and good English language skills.

Qualifications: Experience and expertise in mammalian cell culture (e.g., proliferation/apoptosis), cloning, biochemical and molecular biology techniques (including qPCR, cloning, lentiviral transduction/shRNAi and/or CRISPR/Cas9 in mammalian cells), siRNA, Western blotting, IP, as well as basics in rodent models is required. Experience with stem cell isolation and differentiation, iPS cells, airway drug delivery, miR profiling, isolation and culture of primary SMCs, cardiomyocytes, and/or endothelial cells, ChIP, immunohistochemistry, histological quantitative heart-lung tissue analysis, and hemodynamic measurements is desired but not required.

Several program project grants at HMS are on heart-lung research.
