Introduction: A postdoctoral fellow position is open in the department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at M.D. Anderson cancer center,

Duties & Responsibilities: Develop computational (machine-learning) methods and perform statistical analyses to interpret large-scale genomics/clinical data, especially next-generation sequencing data, towards understanding the etiology and the evolution of cancer. 

Duration: minimal 2 years with possible extension.

Qualifications: An ideal applicant is expected to have a long-term career interest and a track record of success in scientific research; solid training in quantitative fields such as engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, genetics and genomics, math and physics; strong capability in learning, communication (both oral and written), computer programming (e.g., C/C++, Perl), statistical/numerical tools (R, matlab), big data analytical experience (e.g., high-performance/cloud computing and database management); a decent publication record (at least 2 first author papers in reputable journals or conferences equivalent); interest in discovery in biology and diseases; proven productivity in both independent and collaborative settings. 

Salary and Benefits: Salaries ($65,000) and benefits are highly competitive, all the more so given the low cost of living.
