Postdoctoral Researcher required for a NSF-supported study of the algal microbiome. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the functional importance of particular bacteria to host macroalgae, which will involve isolations, reconstitutions, and associated molecular and bioinformatic analyses at genomic and transcriptomic levels. Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in a suitable area of plant molecular biology, marine microbiology, or other relevant area of biological sciences and demonstrated experience in isolation and culture of bacteria associated with molecular physiological analysis.  The successful candidate is expected to have adequate training in statistics and bioinformatics relevant to the required transcriptomic analyses.  S/he will have strong scientific communication skills (oral and written), and will be able to work well independently as well as collaboratively with the other members of the project. Review of applications will begin 1 March 2016, and the desired start date is 1 June 2016 with some flexibility for a later start date. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications ($55,000-65,000). This is a full time position that will last two years, with initial appointment for one year, followed by reappointment for the second year based upon satisfactory performance
