Advertised Job Summary:
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a LECO GC-time-of-flight mass spectrometer, a LECO HRT high resolution GC-time-of-flight mass spectrometer, and an Agilent single quadrupole GC-mass spectrometer, and quantitative and non-target analysis will be conducted to measure and identify DBPs, including halocyclopentadienes, in drinking water. The associate will also be responsible for data analysis, preparation of written reports and manuscripts, as well as oral presentations and mentoring graduate students in the laboratory.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty. (Must have degree by start of employment)
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree by the start date of employment in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field with expertise in drinking water DBPs and GC-high resolution-MS. This expertise could have been gained during the normal course of a doctoral degree program.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience in operating and maintaining GC-mass spectrometers, including high resolution-MS, expertise with quantification of DBPs using GC-MS, and expertise in the identification of unknown contaminants using GC-high resolution-MS.
Job Duty:
Operates and maintainsa LECO GC-time-of-flight mass spectrometer, a LECO HRT high resolution GC-time-of-flight mass spectrometer, and an Agilent single quadrupole GC-mass spectrometer, and conducts quantitative and non-target analysis to measure and identify DBPs, including halocyclopentadienes, in drinking water. This is accomplished by running mass spectrometry analyses utilizing quantitative methods with internal calibration and non-target analysis using GC-high resolution-MS.
