Postdoctoral researcher for the Cardiac Arrhythmia Laboratory

Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares Carlos III

The CNIC has been conceived to develop research of excellence, competitive and of international relevance in relation to cardiovascular diseases. The CNIC has a research center of 24,000 m2, located in Madrid, with more than 6,000 m2 for laboratories equipped with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment.

Functions:

Postdoctoral research on the mechanisms of arrhythmias.

Advanced postdoctoral support related to state-of-the-art technology with the culture and manipulation of mouse and human pluripotent stem cells.

Support at the logistical and organizational level of the laboratory.

Mandatory requirements:

PhD in the area of life sciences.

Minimum experience of 3 years in biomedical research centers

Not having completed the maximum period established for access to contracts of the Spanish system of science, technology and innovation, in accordance with art. 22 of the “ ley de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación (texto refundido Ley 14/2011, de 1 de junio, de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación).”

Valuable requirements:

C1. Experience and knowledge in cell culture of mouse primary cells: MEFs derivation, mouse embryonic stem cells (mESC) expansion and freezing, electroporation, positive clones' selection. Karyotyping and mESC differentiation to cardiac lineage (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction and the training received).

C2. Experience and knowledge in cell culture of human primary cells: Culture and pluripotency maintenance of hiPSC and banking. Somatic cell reprogramming, hiPSC characterization and differentiation (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction and the training received).

C3. Experience and knowledge in molecular and cell biology: molecular cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR and RT-PCR, screening by PCR, immunocytochemistry, microscopy handling and related software (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction and the training received).

C4. Experience and knowledge in gene editing tools mediated by the CRISPR/Cas9 system, in mESC and hiPSC and its use in generating biological models in vitro. (it will be valued according to the number of years or fraction and the training received).

C5. Demonstrated competence in the publication of research papers (will be assessed according to the number and quality of the works published by the candidate).

C6. Interview.

• “ Contrato de Investigador Postdoctoral ”, in accordance with the “Art. 22 Ley de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación (texto refundido Ley 14/2011, de 1 de junio, de la Ciencia, la Tecnología y la Innovación)”, as long as the selected candidate complies with the legal requisites for the formalization of the contract according to law. The position may be filled by an interim contract until the resolution of the selection process.

Selection Plan:

The RESOLUTION OF THE SECRETARIAT OF STATE FOR PUBLIC FUNCTION APPROVING THE COMMON ACTION CRITERIA FOR THE RECRUITMENT PROCESSES IN THE STATE PUBLIC SECTOR ENTITIES of April 11, 2022, set forth in point 6.1 that “Unless a specific regulation establishes a merit-bases recruitment system (concurso), the competition (concurso-oposición) must be the recruitment system”

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-base recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.

At least 3 candidates scoring the highest punctuation will be interviewed, as long as they score a total of 65 points in the sum of valuable (C1-C5). The person with the highest score will be hired, as long as reaches 80 points (C1-C6).
