DP-11 Postdoctoral Researcher in Multi-Configurable RF Front-End Components Design

Contract : Full Time/Fixed Term

The Advanced RF Technologies (ART) Group at Tyndall National Institute (TNI) are currently advertising for the position of the Postdoctoral Researcher in Multi-Configurable RF Front-End Components Design for well- qualified and highly-motivated researchers with experience and strong interest in RF filter design, RF active components (i.e., power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers) and tunable RF components design.

The goal of this project is to develop new types of multi-configurable RF components (e.g, filters with center frequency, bandwidth, and transfer function type tuning or LNAs with tunable frequency, gain, band controlability) for future interoperable terrestrial- and space-based communication platforms. The successful candidate will collaborate with industry and academia and will be involved in academic research and teaching activities at Tyndall National Institute and University College Cork. The successful candidate will become a member of a diverse and vibrant community of academics, research professionals and students at TNI and UCC and will have access to world-class RF characterization, antenna measurement and manufacturing facilities at TNI. Key responsibilities

Development of filter synthesis methods and high-frequency tuning concepts

Development of power amplifiers and low noise amplifiers

Full-wave electromagnetic analysis of filters and other RF front-end components

Manufacturing of PCBs, assembly of SMD components, RF characterization

Preparation of power point presentations and reports for project meetings

Preparation of research papers for IEEE journals and conferences

Lab organization and procurement of equipment

Supervise and assist MSc and PhD students

Participation in Education and Public Engagement

Essential Criteria

PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline with a strong background in filter design, amplifier design and electromagnetic design

Strong knowledge of RF/Electromagnetic CAD design tools, e.g, ADS Keysight, CADENCE AWR, ANSYS HFSS, CST or equivalent.

Demonstration of experience with RF characterization using a PNA/VNA and RF probe station

Strong publication record in IEEE journal and conference publications

This is an initial 12 month contract with scope for extension subject to performance and availability of funds.

Appointment may be made on the IUA Researcher Scale 欧元41,207 - 欧元47,477 per annum. Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
