Postdoctoral researcher in cellular neuroscience for development of nerve-machine interface Tampere University of Technology

Description

The post-doctoral position will focus on the growth of human neural cells and networks on graphene devices, characterization of the cells and networks, electrophysiological signal measurements and analyses from neural cells using graphene field effect transistors and microelectrode arrays.

The candidate will gain expertise in working with multidisciplinary and international research area and supervision of younger researchers and students. The research group fully also supports the researcher with the establishment of an independent research pathway in future.

Requirements

We are seeking outstanding candidates who have a track record of internationally significant research in cellular neuroscience using human pluripotent stem cell derived neurons. In addition, knowhow on in vitro methods for electrophysiological recordings is highly preferred as well as knowledge about brain on chip platforms.

The suitable candidate has:

· a doctoral degree

· an ability to independently conduct internationally significant research in the field with potential for excellence in research

· strong methodological expertise with cellular neuroscience and electrophysiology

· experience in collaborating with international scientific networks

· communication skills needed to successfully perform the duties and functions of the position

· proficiency in English

Salaries are based on the job demands level and personal performance appraisal according to the Finnish University Salary System. Postdoctoral Researcher is placed on the job demands levels 5-6 (teaching and research staff category). In addition, salary includes a personal performance component.
