The Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Wallace lab will be responsible for analyzing conserved noncoding elements in angiosperm genomes and for conducting genetic mapping of traits related to maize brace roots. The Postdoctoral Associate will also oversee undergraduate students who will maintain and phenotype the maize plants in question. This person will also help mentor new graduate students for which their supervision is essential for the proper execution of research.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Ph.D. in genetics, genomics, bioinformatics or related field. A research background in the plant sciences, genomics, and/or quantitative genetics is preferred, with a publication record showing productivity. Demonstrated leadership in research desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Advanced knowledge of genomics, bioinformatics, and genetic mapping /quantitative genetics is preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. Demonstrated critical assessment skills essential. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Extended periods of sitting at a computer. Working outside during the summer for several hours at a time.
