Onur Cil, MD, PhD is hiring postdoctoral fellows to join his lab at UCSF. The research focus of laboratory is drug discovery for renal, gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases, including kidney stones, edema, polycystic kidney disease, hypertension, diarrhea and constipation. Approaches include high-throughput screening of small molecule libraries using cell-based assays developed in the lab, and compound testing and optimization using cellular assays and rodent models. The Cil Lab also works on repurposing of approved drugs for new indications. The identified compounds are used for hypothesis-driven physiological research and as candidates for drug development for human diseases. The Cil laboratory is well-funded and has active collaborations with international research groups and pharmaceutical industry. Applicants must hold a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Background in molecular and cellular biology required, with experience in cell culture and animal models. Ideal candidate should have good written/oral communications skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, and have a documented record of research accomplishments. The candidate will also participate in grant preparation, manuscript writing, and presentation of research at scientific conferences.
