If you are an enthusiastic, highly motivated and creative postdoctoral scientist, you should join us within the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Boehringer Ingelheim RCV to drive innovative research in the field of protein targeting chimeras (PROTACs). This project aims to come up with new E3 ligase systems for new and innovative protein degradation systems. The advertised position is part of the global Boehringer Ingelheim Postdoc Programme and we encourage applications from individuals with a strong background and interest in the PROTAC field.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Working on new innovative and unexplored E3 ligases to develop new PROTAC concepts with full responsibility for the project

Expression and purification of new E3 systems as well as biophysical and biochemical method development to test these systems in vitro

Generating prototypes of new PROTAC tools together with Medicinal Chemists

Present your research at external and internal meetings

Publish in peer-reviewed journals

Learn about drug discovery and development

Leverage collaboration opportunities within Boehringer Ingelheim

Requirements:

PhD degree with proven scientific track record through high quality scientific publications

Deep knowledge of E3 ligases and the functional effects of ubiquitination and of protein science in general

Proven ability to work independently and collaborate in order to achieve objectives, as demonstrated by publications

Demonstrated problem solving skills and strategic research planning

Basic knowledge in protein crystallography or electron microscopy is a plus

Excellent communication, networking and presentation skills, as well as data analysis and data management skills

A high level of written and verbal English, editing and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

The initial appointment is for 2 years fixed term contract with potential for a 1 year extension
