A 4 year postdoctoral position based in the Metabolism, Diabetes and Obesity Theme at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science. The postholder will work on a Wellcome Trust-funded project under the guidance of Professor Robert Semple investigating cellular mechanisms permitting adipose tissue to store energy safely, and how this goes wrong in obesity-related diseases. There will be a particular focus on adipose ageing, and on human single gene disorders affecting DNA replication/repair and/or mitochondrial function.

The postholder will play an important role with other appointees in developing the new laboratory in close liaison with the PI and Cambridge-based parts of the existing team. Some visits to undertake experiments in collaborating laboratories in Cambridge may also be required.
