Responsibilities and tasks

The ultimate goal of the overall project is to develop technology for a CZTS-Silicon tandem solar cell. This entails an improvement of CZTS single cell technology to enhance the efficiency, development of a suitable silicon bottom cell, and solving issues related to integration of the two cells.

This Postdoc project will be mostly involved in the CZTS technology, with the following goals:

Establishing a robust baseline process for CZTS synthesis (by sputter deposition followed by annealing), as well as for the complete CZTS single cell

Characterizing CZTS films and solar cell devices and understanding their limitations

Studying and solving integration issues of CZTS with the bottom silicon cell, i.e., development of a tunnel junction and protection against diffusion of metals from CZTS into silicon

The Postdoc is expected to take a leading role in these activities.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

The candidate is expected to have

Past experience with solar cell technology

Past experience with characterization of thin film materials and solar cells

Past experience with synthesis of thin films.

Previous experience with CZTS or CIGS technology is an advantage.
