POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has two postdoctoral research associate positions immediately available.  Applicants must have a PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree and proven skills and experience in molecular biology. The major focus of our research projects is on transmembrane signaling, lipid rafts, lysosome trafficking and plasma membrane repair in vascular endothelial or smooth muscle cells, which involves membrane and organelle channel recording, molecular imaging in vitro and in vivo, and membrane instant repair recording. Several animal and cell model systems, including conditional gene knockouts, will be used in these research projects, and many state of the art techniques are available, such as real time PCR, CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing, confocal microscopy, ion channel reconstitution, patch clamping with pipette or planer automatic sealing system, high speed wavelength switching fluorescent imaging, HPLC and mass spectrometry, ultrasonic and telemetric measurements of cardiovascular function in rodents. The School of Medicine of VCU has a group of outstanding scientists in cardiovascular research, especially in cardiovascular cell signaling, endothelial biology, and pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
