YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bayer’s Target Discovery Technologies (TDT) Department seeks a motivated scientist to join our team as a Head of Laboratory in Berlin, Germany. The TDT Department provides state-of-the art customized target validation for all indications.

Guide a team of life science technicians to validate novel drug targets using functional genomics approaches such as CRISPR/Cas9

Identify new targets for core indications

Identify and evaluate novel target discovery/validation technologies and drive their
implementation

Lead interdisciplinary project teams

Maintain and extend an international network with external research and medical experts, take initiative in collaborations

WHO YOU ARE

PhD or MD in biology, biochemistry, human biology, human genetics, pharmacology, medicine or a related life sciences discipline

Experience as a postdoctoral researcher in academia or scientist in a pharmaceutical / biotechnology company

Strong background in genome editing and knockout studies based on CRISPR/Cas9 is required

Proven track record by publications in relevant peer reviewed journals

Experience in generation, culture and genome editing of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) is an advantage

Broad and thorough understanding of disease biology in oncology or cardiovascular
diseases is of advantage

Highly self-motivated, goal-oriented and a good team player

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, excellent communication competencies and
able to work both independently and in cross-functional teams

Curiosity and passion for research

Fluency in English, a good working knowledge of German is of advantage
