Job Description: The position focuses on research of gamma delta T cells in healthy human donors and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and murine models in Dr. Karen Edelblum’s lab (http://www.edelblumlab.com) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The candidate will lead independent projects to investigate the pathogenesis of IBD and elucidate molecular mechanisms regulating gamma delta T cell function to identify potential therapeutic opportunities. Interested individuals will be encouraged to develop an independent research program and eventually apply for independent grant funding.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and implement research studies

Collect and analyze data; perform quality control, interpret, summarize results

Master prior literature and place findings in appropriate scientific context. Publish results in peer-review journals.

Collaborate with other researchers in the lab to improve the efficiency of research.

Qualifications and skills:

PhD in immunology, or related fields

Substantial expertise in multi-dimensional flow cytometry

Additional skills/areas of expertise that are valued include: , immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, bioinformatics, intestinal biology, CD8 or regulatory T cell biology, mouse husbandry

Self-motivated and highly dedicated

Effective written and oral communication skills
