About the role

This project has been funded by a U01 NIH grant (2022-2027) that aims to define the underlying mechanisms of immune sex differences in early life. Immune sex differences strongly influence outcome from immunizations and infections, females typically making stronger and more effective responses compared to males, usually with superior health outcomes resulting. However, the more exuberant immune response in females is also associated with more vaccine adverse events, immunopathology and autoimmune disease.

The role advertised here is for a post-doc to work in Oxford to undertake the immune profiling of sex discordant twin-sets and study participants within the mother-child cohort we have tracked from birth of the child following in utero transmission. Specifically the post-doc will focus on transcriptomic aspects to determine sex-specific immune pathways and trajectories that underlie distinct outcomes following certain immunizations and infections in early life.
