Job Overview

A full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Structural Dynamics of Transcription Lab (PI: Dr. JB Rodriguez-Molina) in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

The Structural Dynamics of Transcription Lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of transcription termination and their regulation in health and disease, using an integrated structural biology workflow that combines biochemistry, genomics, and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM). We are seeking a self-driven, ambitious, and creative scientist eager to explore fundamental questions in gene regulation and excited to work at the interface of structural biology, biochemistry, and functional genomics.

Depending on interests and expertise, the successful candidate may lead one of two complementary projects:

A biochemical and structural project involving protein purification, reconstitution of macromolecular complexes, in vitro functional assays, and cryo-EM.

A cellular and systems-level project focusing on CRISPR-based genetic screens, flow cytometry, genomics, and proteomics.

Both projects aim to uncover how transcription termination machinery integrates with broader regulatory networks and how its dysfunction contributes to disease. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and contribute to an interdisciplinary,(For more postdoctoral recruitment information, visit:boshihoujob.com) collaborative research environment. Training will be provided where needed. Our research is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities for cryo-EM, proteomics, genomics, and flow cytometry, as well as high-performance computing resources at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Essential Functions

Drive the research project in collaboration with the PI and other team members.

Design, execute, and analyze experiments; develop new approaches and hypotheses as appropriate.

Prepare research summary reports, and present research findings in manuscripts, lab meetings, and scientific conferences.

Contribute to grant proposals and collaborative efforts as opportunities arise.

Stay abreast of developments in the field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.

Mentor junior trainees and help maintain an open, supportive, and rigorous research environment.

Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.

Engage in professional development activities and career planning with mentorship from the PI.

Contribute to lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.

Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biophysics, or a related field.

Required Experience

In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.

May require experience with specialized software programs.

At least three years of research experience in biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, or related disciplines.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Research experience in genetics, next generation sequencing, bioinformatics, biophysics, physics, math and engineering may also be considered.
