Description

Soil Carbon Cycling Project (NSF-funded): The main goal of this project is to investigate how plant functional types affect the quantity, composition, and persistence of soil organic carbon pools. The project involves collecting soil samples from long-term field experiments across the US, performing wet chemistry analysis to determine the molecular composition of soil carbon, and examining microbial parameters. The postdoc is expected to conduct hypothesis-driven research, collect and analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication. Additionally, the postdoc will participate in educational activities outlined in the project, including mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The projects are interdisciplinary and integrate biogeochemistry, soil ecology, soil microbiology, and plant chemistry in defining plant-microbe interactions and soil carbon cycling.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in soil science, biogeochemistry, or related fields with a strong understanding of soil carbon cycling.
